MIND, House of Europe
Architecture
The pavilion draws inspiration from the logo of the House of Europe and the modern architectural styles of Ukraine's 1990s suburban developments. By reinterpreting the simple geometry of the logo’s letters, the design transforms graphic simplicity into architectural form. The result is a contemporary structure that serves as both a shelter and a flexible public space.
While nodding to Mies van der Rohe’s minimalist style, the pavilion redefines this aesthetic through the use of sustainable materials. Steel is replaced by eco-friendly wood, and marble by 100% recycled plastic, aligning the design with modern principles of sustainability.
The pavilion’s standout feature is its removable façade, allowing it to seamlessly integrate into the surrounding public space when open, while still offering the flexibility to adapt to different uses. This blend of simplicity, sustainability, and adaptability makes the pavilion a versatile and forward-thinking architectural statement.
