M.A.R.E, MACS Event Building

Architecture + Urban Planning

M.A.R.E.—Mobility, Architecture, Regeneration, Ecology—reimagines the Darsena as a civic waterfront. The proposal introduces an accessible, tree-lined levee promenade and a chain of elevated “castellane” plazas that stitch public life to port activity while keeping flows safe and separate.
The building is a clear two-part volume: a robust stone plinth on the water and a warm brick body with a panoramic window framing the canal; interiors in exposed concrete support flexible use, from exhibitions to a 210 m² conference hall, with welcoming ground-floor bar and generous foyers.
Sustainability is embedded through natural ventilation, rainwater management, and roof-integrated photovoltaics, alongside local, durable materials designed for the marine environment.
